Iran Request from Iraqi Side for Accepting Bank Guarantee

Vice president of Iran's Chamber of Commerce welcomed the recent agreement between Iran and Iraq's central banks, stressing we request the Central Bank of Iran to make an agreement regarding accepting Iranian bank guarantees with Iraqi side.

Speaking to IBENA in regard to the recent banking agreements between Iran and Iraq, Mohammad Reza Ansari said the deal could be so effective for our technical and engineering services exports to Iraq.



He mentioned that 95 percent of Iraq government's foreign exchange revenues is for oil export, adding Iraqi government has capacity of receiving technical and engineering services by 10 billion dollars annually, whereas our country's companies export capacity in this area is some 34 billion dollars. 



The vice president of Iran's Chamber of Commerce underlined that at present, the export of Iranian technical and engineering services firms to Iraq is approximately one billion dollars and many projects is this sphere have been stopped due to rejecting Iranian banks guarantees. 



Ansari made a comment that if banking relations between Iran and Iraq be established and the latest banking agreements also be operated, there is a possibility for Iranian technical and engineering services firms to keep on their activities in Iraq based on the cost paid in Iran for issuing the letter of guarantee.



The official went on to say that we predict if banking relations between two countries be established, Iranian companies can attract 5 to 6 billion dollars of the technical and engineering services capacity of the Iraq market.
