Mahmoud Va'ezi announced that the new system, currently being designed by experts at Sharif University of Technology, will appear as a platform on personal mobile phones.

The Iranian minister made the comments on the sidelines of Tehran's Intl Exhibition of Electronic, Computer and E-Commerce, ELECOMP. Va'ezi said the ministry has identified public sector organizations with the largest number of clients and most hectic work load to be covered in the first phase of the project, while other organizations will also be included in the second.

He noted that in such cities as the capital Tehran commuting to offices for paperwork is creating massive traffic jam, an issue which could be handled with the full implementation of the E-government plan, in which official correspondence will go fully digital and online. He added, however, that E-government won't bear fruit unless public awareness is raised and the culture is disseminated.

The minister further pointed out that while facilitating public life, the main advantage of E-government is creating transparency and tackling administrative corruption, because the system removes one-on-one personal dealings in official matters and proceedings will take place in a merely electronic fashion.
