At a meeting with the Turkish ambassador in Tehran, Bahman Abdollahi said Iran was ready to send trade delegations to Turkey and host Turkish business groups, while also proposing trade fairs in the two countries.

Bahman Abdollahi said based on the Iranian constitution, the cooperatives sector makes up around 25% of Iran’s economy.

The Turkish ambassador, for his part, welcomed the offer by the Iranian side. Reza Hakan Tekin noted that during a meeting between the two countries’ presidents, Tehran and Ankara had set a 30-billion-dollar target in mutual trade volume.

Tekin expressed hope that the cooperatives sector will play a major role in realizing that goal. The Turkish ambassador added that he would relay the Iranian proposal to his capital, expressing satisfaction that the two sides were moving in the right direction toward improving trade ties.
