The CBI Deputy Governor told IBENA about the recent measures taken for bringing MasterCard and Visa Card services to Iran that the country has not been able to offer these services because of their US-based nature.

“Of course, using such features (international credit card services like MasterCard and Visa Card) are the requirements of the society and we are trying to use other services in the world that may not have degree of influence like those cards,” Kamyab continued.

The Official mentioned that MasterCard and VisaCard have one hundred percent influence and added that there are companies in China, Japan and Russia that are able to provide similar services but with poorer grade of service.

“We are trying to reach an agreement with credit card service providers in these countries to be able to arrange such services in the country. We are negotiating but haven’t reached an agreement yet,” CBI Deputy Governor noted.

He stressed that the CBI will announce the results if they reach a final agreement with the countries.
